Slavonski Brod is a city located within the Slavonia region of Croatia, along the banks of the Sava river. The city is considered a transport hub, where roads leading to large Croatian cities converge. The city traces its origins to a Roman settlement and now enjoys a rich cultural heritage.
Slavonski Brod is the location of a Franciscan monastery that was originally built in 1694 out of timber. A more contemporary structure made of stone was laid out in 1727. It also displays several archaeological artifacts collected from within the region.
The area around the city also contains prime hunting grounds and several fishponds for avid fishermen. A nearby lake also provides opportunities for boating and other water sports. More vigorous individuals may even attempt to climb the Dilj Gora Mountain.
