The Romantic Danube Valley Day Tour from Vienna reveals the exquisite beauty of the Wachau Valley. A tour not to be missed.

As the coach winds through romantic scenery with charming old villages, steep vineyards and mysterious looking castles, the history and legends of the area will come to life. One such castle is the well-known Durnstein, where King Richard Lionheart was imprisoned, while waiting for his ransom to arrive from England, which was finally raised by his true minstrel Blondel.

Enjoy a romantic boat ride down the Danube from Splitz to Melk. The heart of the Wachau is the old vine-merchants town Krems. To complete this day of highlights you will visit the “Cradle of Austria”, the magnificent Benedictine Abbey, a pearl of the Austrian Baroque. You can eat lunch in the Abbey Restaurant at Melk (not included).

Please note, the boat trip (1.5 hours) operates between April 05 to October 26, 2008. In the Winter months, lunch at the “Zum Schwarzen Baren” in Emmersdorf will be included in your tour price as a replacement

A drive through the enchanting countryside of western Hungary will take you to Budapest, a city rich in traditions, situated on the banks of the Danube, where there will be time for lunch (not included).

In the afternoon during an extensive coach tour, you will be able to appreciate the historical and cultural importance of this city. Among the highlights will be Hero’s square, Vajdahunyad castle, Opera house, Parliament, Fisherman’s bastion, Matthias church and the Citadel.

At 5:00pm you will start the return journey to Vienna, the tour ends at your hotel.
