Drive through Rosheim, Boersch and Ottrott, picturesque villages along the Alsace Wine Route. Rosheim is famous for its church, Saint Pierre and Paul, jewel of the romantic art of the 12th century. Boersch not only features 3 surrounding gateways from the 14th century, but also a Town Hall of Renaissance style with a staircase turret and an angle oriel. All Alsacians know of the Rouge d’Ottrott, the only real red wine in Alsace, but not everyone knows that the village has retained numerous half-timbered houses of Renaissance style.
Drive through the forest of the Vosges Mountain to Mont Sainte-Odile and visit the convent of the “Patron Saint of Alsace”. Odile was born blind and miraculously recovered her eyesight while being christened at the age of 12. In 720 she surrendered her soul to God and the site became a place of pilgrimage.
Descend to Obernai the 2nd most visited place of north Alsace after Strasbourg. City Hall is easy to recognize with a unique carved stone balcony and decorated bow window. Visible from the market square is the Corn Exchange House, whose bell was used to announce the opening and the closing of the market.
Visit the famous Castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg, impressive fortress of the 12th century offering views of the plain of Alsace. The Castle was the residence of several eminent proprietors including members of the Habsbourg dynasty and the German emperor Wilhelm II. It is one of the most visited National Monuments in France.
Journey through the Wine Route to Riquewihr, the “Pearl of the vineyard” listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Surrounded by vineyards including the Grand Cru Wines “Schonenbourg” and “Sporen”, nestling in a fold of green hills, Riquewihr personifies the union of the pleasure of fine wines from prestigious vineyards with well preserved architecture.
To end the trip a wine tasting is offered by renowned wine producer Dopff and Irion.
The Vere valley, surrounded by the medieval Gresigne forest and the “perched” villages, reveals the most “outback” France has to offer. A variety of landscapes, prolific history, friendly inhabitants, proverbial wines and gastronomy.
Your first stop is at the village of Bruniquel. Perched on top of a cliff, the village is a fabulous testimony of what medieval villages looked like in the 13th century.
Continue to the second village of Puycelsi, located 20 kilometers away. The village is also perched and offers a typical image of the small authentic French village with its a church and main square where the elderly usually play petanque (similar to boules).
Your tour ends with a wine tasting session in or around Gaillac, one of the oldest vineyards of France.
Pick up from your hotel a panoramic tour to admire the main monuments of Toulouse.
First you will drive to the Airbus A380 Assembly factory, then return by the Canal du Midi and the train station to discover the Old grain exchange transformed into a famous concert hall for classical music.
Next its on to the Boulingrin and the Botanical Garden with its exotic plants, the Saint Michel bridge with a view on the old city and the water tower which houses an exhibition hall for photographers.
Continue to the Saint Cyprien neighborhood, the Modern Art Museum located in the old slaughter house, the Canal de Brienne and finally arrive at Saint Sernin.
From Saint Sernin you will walk to neighboring Capitol square, the “heart of the city”, where the tour ends.
