15th Arrondissement

The Parc des Expositions, more popularly known as the Paris Expo, is located within the 15th arrondissement. It is considered one of the largest exhibition centers in Europe.

When it comes to attractions located within the area, few can beat the Tour Eiffel or the Eiffel Tower in terms of popularity and number of visitors. It is located in the edge of the 15th arrondissement and is not to be missed by any visitor to the city.

Sights & Activities

There are a total of 8 exhibition halls located within the Parc des Expositions, located in the southern edge of the 15th arrondissement and accessed through the Paris Métro station of Porte de Versailles. The venue can accommodate as many as 200 exhibitions and congresses. This translates to millions of visitors each year, most coming from all over the world.

Near the Parc des Expositions is the Palais des Sports, which is also a leading sports venue in the city. It can accommodate more than 4,000 spectators in any given event.

The Aquaboulevard is also located within the vicinity. Accessed via the Rue Louis Armand, this aqua park offers locals and visitors a chance to frolic in the water slides and a wave pool without having to go far from the center of Paris. Jacuzzis and saunas are also available for those who wish to relax and unwind from their busy city lives.

There are also several museums located in the area. One destination is actually composed of two museums—the Memorial du Marechal Leclerc et Musée Jean Moulin. Situated on the Allee de la 2éme Division Blindee, these establishments presents items related to the Resistance movement and the country’s Liberation. Visitors can behold its numerous photographs, films, and documents, as well learn of the country’s political history through the perspectives of two of the most politically influential persons of their time.

The Musée Pasteur is a museum located along Rue du Docteur Roux, showcasing the life of famed chemist Louis Pasteur. For a small fee, visitors are free to wander around Pasteur’s living quarters, examine the scientific instruments he used, and the funerary chapel where he was buried. The chapel also contains some impressive mosaics depicting some of the Pasteur’s life works.

One of the area’s most treasured attractions is the small yet pretty Parc Andre-Citroën, situated in front of Quay Andre-Citroën. This formal park is dedicated to the legacy of the automobile manufacturer who had his first factory located nearby. The park provides a serene outdoor haven for locals and visitors alike.

Of course, a visit to Paris would not be complete without a stroll at the Champ de Mars and a climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower. This 19th century structure is considered the tallest in the city and is its most visited paid attraction. The observation platform affords spectacular views of the city and the river Seine.

Eating Out

Being part of metropolitan Paris, there are a lot of eating establishments located within the 15th arrondissement. Within the district of Front de Seine are several high rise buildings that are catered by several restaurants such as the Chen along Rue Théâtre, the Restaurant Japonais Benhay along Quai Granelle, and the La Plage Cote Sud that is situated along Rue Javel. Because of the huge number of visitors that head out to the Parc des Expositions each year, numerous restaurants have also been established around it. Eating establishments located along Rue Balard, in particular, include the Pizza Marina, the Zahlé Restaurant, the Eizosushi, the Au Palais de Joie Nicosef, and the Warin Gilles.
