17th Arrondissement

The Palais des Congrès is a popular venue for corporate conventions and congresses in Paris, France. Located within the 17th arrondissement, the structure faces the Place de la Porte Maillot.

Espace Champerret is another popular venue for exhibits and congresses. It is located along Rue Jean-Oestreicher.

The area in which these venues are located is considered to be composed mostly of high-end residences. However, it is also the location of several attractions, such as the Musée National Jean-Jacques Henner, while located in the southern edge is the Parc Monceau.

Sights & Attractions

The Palais des Congrès is the modern building located in front of the skyscraper named Hôtel Concorder la Fayette. It has extensive exhibition spaces spread out in three levels, as well as TV studios and several amphitheaters. A lot of corporate events are held in this venue because of the flexibility of its configuration.

In front it is the huge roundabout that features a formal layout and a Paris Métro station called the Porte Maillot.

A short distance away from the Palais des Congrès is another venue for exhibitions, the Espace Champerret. This venue is actually part of the Paris Expo brand, which handles six other venues in the city, including the extensive Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Espace Champerret caters mostly to small and medium-sized exhibits and specialty trade exhibitions.

Another interesting destination in the area is the Musée National Jean-Jacques Henner, situated along Avenue de Villiers. This museum showcases the life and works of Henner, a prolific artist who lived in the 19th century. For a small fee, visitors can get glimpses of personal mementos as well as works of Henner.

Park Monceau is a small park where residents of the area often go to when they wish to enjoy the outdoors. Its well-paved paths are ideal for walking and jogging. Among the items to look out for are models of known architectural features, such as an Egyptian pyramid, Corinthian pillars, a Chinese fort, and even a Dutch windmill.

The 17th arrondissement plays host to two popular annual events. One is the Salon National des Vins et des Vignerons independants, which bring wine exhibitors from all over the country into one venue. Guests will be treated to several wine tasting sessions and this event will surely interest any wine aficionado.

Another interesting event is the Salon Saveurs, which celebrates good food and fine wine. The fair is participated by gourmet cooks from France, Italy, and Spain. It is one opportunity for locals and visitors to sample some of the dishes that are considered specialties of these countries.

Eating Out

A lot of restaurants are scattered all over the 17th arrondissement. Along Avenue Ternes are the Le Galvacher, the Restaurant Rech, and the Bellagio. Those who want to sample seafood dishes should head out to the Table de Lucullus, located along Rue Legendre. Restaurants serving French cuisine include the Verre Bouteille along Avenue des Ternes, the Michel Rostang on Rue Rennequin, and Chez Fred on Bis Pereire Boulevard. For more exotic fare, the Taira restaurant Rue des Acacias serve Asian dishes.
